08 Sep Mount Shasta – An amazing place for city dog to experience nature and be wild :)
Dogs are spoiled in the city.. I believe all dog lovers truly love their dog and provide the best for them.. everyday.. its either dog park.. walk around the park.. or doggy daycare.. on weekend, we bring them to dog friendly cafe.. restaurant and bar.. so we can take them with us while we are enjoying our lives. What Mount Shasta offers is for dog to be themselves.. bring back to their natural instinct…they can run around like they would in the wild with so much open space and freedom..
Mount Shasta is a city in Siskiyou County, California at about 3,600 feet (1,100 m) above sea level on the flanks of Mount Shasta,a prominent northern California landmark. The city is less than 9 miles (14 km) southwest of the summit of its namesake volcano. It is approximately 5 hours north of San Francisco Bay Area. While Mount Shasta might not be a tourist hot spot like Yosemite or Big Sur, it is definitely one of the best place for nature. It is almost one of the best place to bring your dog who grow up in the city life to experience nature.. mountain.. stream.. snow
Like I mentioned before, Mount Shasta is not as crowded as other tourist place even during summer time.. you can bring your dog to many trail and let them off leash. I personally have never seen my dog as happy. He would sniff and run around like a wild boy. It makes me feel he is back to where he belongs.
Below are the two dog friendly trail I recommend:
Mount Shasta City Park
Mount Shasta City Park is my personal favorite.. and my dog favorite.. it is a huge park.. there is trees… stream…tiny cute bridge… it is also the head of Sacramento river, you can actually take the water there for drinking..there are so much space once you walk in the park.. you dog can run around in full speed.. it is very beautiful scenery. I would describe this park as an easy hike.. it is mostly flat and you can walk in any direction you want.. it is just beautiful. I been there during summer and winter.. even though winter is bit cold and covered in snow.. it is actually even more beautiful and enjoyable.. your dog can be off leash once you walk in the trail. There are so much to sniff and so much space to run around.. it is something all dog would love
Lake Siskiyou Trail

This place is right next to a beautiful lake. I would recommend only during cooler weather there. It is such a huge lake with so much space and forest surrounding it. Your dog can run back and forth. There are some bugs during summer time. If you are not afraid of that, summer is good too. I don’t think our doggy friend mind.
Even on your drive up or back from Bay Area to Mount Shasta, you will find so many dog friendly trail and national park that you can bring your doggy to. If you want any suggestion, message me
I truly believe this is a hidden gem. If you want to bring your dog to enjoy the wild and nature.. this is the best place
